General Education Requirements
Tier One
Traditions and Cultures – Students must take 2 of the following:
* TRAD 101 – Non-Western Cultures and Civilizations
* TRAD 102 – Western Cultures and Civilizations: Classical to Renaissance
* TRAD 103 – Western Cultures and Civilizations: Renaissance to Present
* TRAD 104 – Topics in Culture and Civilization
Individuals and Societies - Students must take 2 of the following:
* INDV 101 – Mind, Self, and Language
* INDV 102 – Social Interaction and Relationships
* INDV 103 – Societal and Institutional Systems
Natural Science – Met by requirements in major
Tier Two » BS Any Engineering Major
Individuals and Societies - 1 course
Arts† or Humanities
Second Language - Students must take the second language proficiencey examination upon entrance to the University. Before applying for advanced standing, students must remove any University entrance requirements relative to the two required high school courses in a single second language.

Humanities - 1 course
Second Language - Students must pass the second language proficiency examination at the fourth-semester level OR complete one course from the list on the Academic Program Requirements Report for the B.A. in Engineering program.

In addition to the above requirements
One course focusing on a non-western culture, or gender, race, class, or ethnicity is required. This may be fulfilled through an appropriate Tier One or Tier Two course, as indicated in the Academic Program Requirements Report for your degree program. All TRAD 101 courses are non-western in focus and satisfy this requirement. There are also some Tier Two Individuals and Societies and Arts and Humanities courses that satisfy this requirement.
AGEC – Arizona General Education Curriculum
If you have an AGEC certification, your General Education requirements are completed. If you do not have an AGEC, see your college advisor in the Engineering Academic Affairs Office, Room 200 in the Engineering Building, to make sure you receive credit for the General Education courses you have already completed.
