This is a brief caption that tells us some kind of a "factoid" about our students. We can use this space to highlight how many non-traditional or minority students are in the college. This content is to be determined by the department.
Configuring Your University Email (email.arizona.edu)
1. Determine the type of mail protocol you wish to use (POP or IMAP) based on the descriptions below.
2. Depending on your Email Client (e.g- Outlook, Eudora etc), this can be done by directly specifying which type of server you use (POP or IMAP). This can also be done by specifying in the Email Client whether or not messages should be left on the server after they have been retrieved by the client. There is also usually an option to delete messages from the server after a certain time duration (usefull when trying to conserve account space).
University Email Server Settngs
Incoming mail server: username.inbox.email.arizona.edu, where 'username' is your account name.
e.g- 'john@email.arizona.edu' or 'john@u.arizona.edu' would become 'john.inbox.email.arizona.edu'
Outgoing mail server: smtpgate.email.arizona.edu
POP Access
POP is suitable if you are going to use e-mail only from one location, such as your home or office, because all your e-mail activities are performed on your local workstation. Mail is downloaded from the inbox of the e-mail server to your local machine, meaning that it is usually not possible to access the email from an other location. This can, however, be bypassed by using the 'Leave mail on server' setting in your Email Client.
IMAP Access
IMAP is better if you need to access your mail from work and from home, or while traveling.
Your e-mail and folders can reside on the mail server so your e-mail and folders are accessible regardless of which computer you are using. To conserve disk space, it is usefull to set a time duration for how long email messages should stay on the server before they are deleted (5-10 days is reasonable), by using the appropriate seeting in your Email Client.
