Who Are They and What Do They Do?

The Engineering Ambassadors are University of Arizona students who volunteer their time to educate middle and high school students on the diversity of engineering and the value of math and science in secondary education. They are also highly involved in enhancing student recruitment to the College of Engineering. Representing all majors in the College of Engineering, Engineering Ambassadors share information about the University and about the college experience from a student’s perspective.

The Engineering Ambassadors are among the best the College of Engineering has to offer. They are chosen based on their outstanding academic performance, involvement in research and internships, leadership experiences, and passion for engineering. Their outreach and recruitment efforts have helped change the perception of what it is to be an engineer; they have shown the Arizona community that the goal of engineering is to help people and make a difference in our ever changing world.

Additionally, Engineering Ambassadors will:

• Meet one on one with prospective students and parents
• Give engineering lab tours
• Organize student panels
• Represent engineering students at industry and alumni functions
• And much more...

How Do I Apply?

Complete the Engineering Ambassadors Application and provide a resume and letter of recommendation. These must be completed and submitted to Engineering Building, Room 200, by 5 p.m., February 8, 2013, for participation for the 2013-2014 school year. The application will be accepted starting in December of 2012.

     Requirements for applicants:

• Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75
  
• Must have completed or be enrolled in ENGR 102.
• Applicant is in at least the second semester at UA, and be in the College of Engineering.
• Student must commit to two full academic years (fall and spring)
• Letter of recommendation to be submitted from a faculty member.
• Letter of recommendation may be submitted by e-mail directly from the recommender to Rebecca Myren & Ted Gatchell (no forwards accepted) at ENGR-Ambassadors@email.arizona.edu.

Training for Fall 2012

Training for Engineering Ambassadors consists of a mandatory two-and-a-half-day (Thursday, Friday, & Saturday) training workshop prior to the first day of school in August.
