Graduate StudentsEach engineering department has its own unique application process for graduate studies. Please contact your department for specific information and processes. Full-Time Status for Graduate StudentsPolicy: All graduate students in the College of Engineering who are supported by or through the University are considered to be full-time students and are expected to enroll for some combination of course work, research, or independent study that results in at least 12 units of credit each semester. ImplementationGraduate students should enroll in classes according to their academic study plans to ensure satisfactory progress toward degree completion. They should enroll in 909 (Master’s Report), 910 (Thesis) or 920 (Dissertation) as soon as such work is initiated. The number of units of 909, 910 or 920 registration should be consistent with their thesis or dissertation activity that semester; however, the number of units applied to the advanced degree is limited to the number allowed by the major department. Students should enroll in 900 (Research) whenever research not related to the thesis or dissertation is being performed. Enrollment in 930 (Supplementary Registration) is available for students who are using faculty time or University facilities in ways other than the above. |
